Self Pity

I never saw a wild thing
sorry for itself.
A small bird will drop frozen dead from a bough
without ever having felt sorry for itself.

So , i think when the author says wild, he means , lives in the wild, like the bird. I think what the meaning is that animals, dont feel self pity because they have what they need but nothing more than what they need. Humans are always trying to get more, and most canadiens have some of what they WANT to. Yet when we don't have what we want we feel self pity. Are lives are so much easier then animals and we take so much for granted so when a birds drops dead, it will not have self pity, unlike most humans.
