MAKING A POST!!!!

So to make a post this is what u have to do:

U likely recieved an email from Mr. Oickle inviting u to this blog...

1. Click the link

U should of made a google account by trying to leave a comment and signing up... ( tell u the steps later)

Once u clicked the link it will bring u to log in ....

2. Log in

3. Accept the invite

And BAM!!! now ur able to make a post just like me :)

NOW to make a GOOGLE ACCOUNT or comment under a post or this post... there is "comments"

1. CLICK IT!!

Then after under leave a comment there is a sign up here or sign in here cant remember anyways click that...

2. Enter email password etc... it can be hotmail, yahoo or whatever

3. U got a google account !!!!!!

And now i just realized Sierra just posted a post on this but i'll post one too for the fun of it

Hey 8H! Here's how to be a contributator to the blog. First, you have to recieve an e-mail from Mr. Oickle telling you that your invited. If he doesn't have your e-mail you can send him one at his e-mail address rod.oickle@ocdsb.ca. Next you have to click the link that he sent you. The blog site should show up on the screen. If you already have a gmail account type that in and your password. If you don't you type in your hotmail, yahoo or whatever e-mail address. Your password is you e-mail account again. If that doesn't work you should ask your parents if you can make a gmail account. Then TA-DA! You're in!!! If you have any questions about what to do or if it's not working send me an e-mail at sierra.erbach@gmail.com. See you tomorrow!!! :)

What is a recount?

If you are confused about the recount assignment, just get some rest and we will clear it up tomorrow during class. Sorry for the confusion. : ) 


RECOUNT

A recount is a record of events.

It has an orientation which gives the background to the events that took place.

It has a series of events told in the past tense. Time markers such as “yesterday”, “then”, “soon” are used to sequence the events.

It may end with a re-orientation which refers the reader back to the orientation

A summarizing comment

The core of a recount is its sequence of events.

Recounts are used most often in :

• Newspaper articles – preceedings of a trial, description of a soccer match, events before and after the occurrence of natural disasters
• Police Reports
• Biographies
• Autobiographies
• Diary Entries
• Historical Records

Just checking to see if the blog works for me. Hi 8H! I'm excited for drama class tomorrow! Ok. Don't forget we ahve a dictée in science tomorrow. There's more homework. I just thought that homework was important....Seeing as I fail in dictées........ok.....BYE!!!!!!!! :)

You must have a gmail account to post to the blog.  Once you have created a gmail account, simply click on the "comments" link beneath a post.  A new text box will open and off you go.  Please try a practice post or 2 to get started.

Two Weeks L8R

Well it's been two weeks since we were all thrust into the new school year and I've learned a great deal about each of you already. The wonderful and open feedback you have provided in class and on your most recent written responses to our 3 books and the video has been very interesting to say the least.  Here are few choice quotes from your written responses;

A quick recap of out learning to date:

Making connections (text 2 text, text 2 self, text 2 world).  We've also taken some time to examine critical thinking and questioning skills of written word (author's purpose/intention, target audience, what's missing and why, what perspective is being used).

Perspective

After spending some time understanding perspective and the relationship to the written word, students were put to the test yesterday when they were asked to APPLY what they had learned. While the read aloud picture book activity was at first misunderstood by many, the debriefing session offered many valuable and meaningful connection for the 8H crew.

It takes a brave soul to reveal their inner thoughts and emotions regarding their perspective. Thanks to everyone for their excellent feedback. I think it's finally safe to say that we will try not to "judge a book by its cover".

The theme of the lessons in literacy yesterday and today can be found in the mind maps created by students. Hopefully these lessons will resonate with students for some time.

Study Skills Test - That's right. The first test to determine if you are able to demonstrate KUDA with your study habits is upon us. Expect a surprise session in the next day or two.
